Hekla [mountain] - Hekla
An active volcano located in southwestern Iceland, about 110 km east of Reykjavik. It has an elevation of 1,491 m. It is a shield volcano made of basaltic lava, and has a record of more than 20 eruptions since the 12th century, the most recent being in 1766. The most recent eruption was in 1947.
