Spectroscopic analysis

Spectroscopic analysis

When a substance is irradiated with electromagnetic waves, the interaction between the two causes primary radiation, secondary radiation, absorption, and diffraction phenomena. This is the general term for analysis that applies these spectroscopic phenomena to chemical analysis. Analysis that uses primary radiation is called emission spectroscopy, and in the gamma-ray to X-ray range, there are X-ray emission spectroscopy and gamma-ray spectrometry. ESCA is X-ray photoelectron spectrometry, which is a primary emission spectroscopy that measures and analyzes the energy of electrons emitted when a substance is excited with X-rays. In the ultraviolet to infrared range, there are emission spectroscopy, flame photometry, and absorption photometry. In the gamma-ray to X-ray range, there is X-ray fluorescence analysis, and in the ultraviolet to infrared range, there is fluorescence analysis. In the absorption range, there are X-ray absorption analysis, ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry, and atomic absorption spectrometry, and in the far-infrared to microwave range, there is infrared spectroscopy and microwave spectroscopy. Other examples include X-ray diffraction analysis using X-rays and Raman spectroscopy.
