Roman politician and author. He served as praetor (Urbanus), consul, governor of the province of Britannia, and administrator of the water supply of the city of Rome. He wrote many technical manuals related to his work. Only quotations remain from two volumes of his work on land surveying, and his Military Techniques Manual has been lost. Four volumes of his Tactical Manual for commanders remain, but the fourth volume is not thought to be his. In On the Aqueducts of Rome, he uses a variety of materials on water supply, water volume regulation, and management. [Yuge Tatsuru]
