Musical activity aimed at promoting the class consciousness of the proletariat and serving the interests of the working class. It first developed in Soviet Russia as part of the activities of the proletarian cultural organization Proletklit, which held its first congress in 1918, shortly after the establishment of power, and carried out educational activities such as the creation of revolutionary songs and workers' choral movements. This spread throughout the world, and the activities of the German Workers' and Singers' Union and its participants, such as composer Heinz Tiessen (1887-1971), were one example of this.
