In this reaction, the olefin is also called a dienophile, or a dienophile, transliterated from English, because it is a reagent that reacts in search of a diene. Electrophilic (electron-deficient) olefins are often used as dienophiles, but nucleophilic (electron-rich) olefins are also used in some reactions.
