A process for separating powders and granular materials using a sieve. In industry, sieving is often performed as a continuous process. The performance of sieving work is evaluated from three standpoints: the throughput (or throughput), the efficiency of separation, and the accuracy of separation. Sieving performance is related to the characteristics of the raw material, such as the particle size composition and other powder properties of the raw material and the moisture content, as well as the conditions of the equipment, such as the shape and material of the sieve surface and the operating conditions of the sieving machine. The throughput C of a continuous sieving equipment is expressed in tons of raw material processed per hour.

ふるいによる粉粒体の分離操作。ふるい分けは工業的には多くの場合連続操作として行われている。ふるい分け作業の成績は処理量(または処理能力)，分離の効率および分離の精度という三つの見地から評価される。ふるい分け成績に対しては原料の粒度構成その他の粉体物性，湿分などの原料側の特性と，ふるい面の形状，材質，ふるい機の操作条件などの装置側の諸条件が関係している。　連続式ふるい分け装置の処理能力Cは1時間当りの原料処理トン数によって表される。
