1660‐1726 Austrian architect known for the Baroque Melk Abbey. He was a local architect who retained the traditional character of a master carpenter, and is said to have been devoted to the local community. He personally supervised the construction work, and at Melk Abbey he showed unique solutions to issues such as considering the site conditions and integrating the building into the landscape, and built an artistic culture unique to the region.
