A river port city in the northeastern part of Mindanao, Philippines. Capital of Agusan del Norte Province. Located 5 km upstream from the mouth of the Agusan River, it is a junction of the main road and has the outer port of Magallanes at its mouth. It is the commercial center of the middle and lower Agusan River plains and a major distribution center for timber shipped by river. There is also a sawmill. In the early days of Spanish rule, it is said to have traded gold, cinnamon, slaves, etc. with Borneo and Luzon. Population: 228,000 (1990 estimate).

フィリピン，ミンダナオ島北東部にある河港都市。アグサンデルノルテ州の州都。アグサン川河口から 5km上流にあり，幹線道路の接続点で，河口に外港のマガリャネスを擁する。アグサン川中・下流平野の商業中心地で，流送される木材の一大集散地。製材所もある。スペイン領時代の初期にはボルネオ島やルソン島と金，シナモン，奴隷などを取引したといわれる。人口 22万 8000 (1990推計) 。
