Japanese: 二重まぶた(二重瞼) - ふたえまぶた

This refers to the upper eyelid appearing double due to the presence of an upper eyelid sulcus. It is also called "nijuken" or double eyelid. When the position of the upper eyelid sulcus descends to coincide with the front edge of the upper eyelid, it appears to be a single eyelid from the front, but this is called a pseudosingle eyelid or pseudosingle eyelid. Double eyelids are common among Europeans. Even among the major Mongoloid races, they are common among Thais and Malays (85-95%), but somewhat rare among Chinese and Koreans. The incidence rate among Japanese is about 60-75%. It is over 90% among the Ainu.

上眼瞼溝の存在により上眼瞼が二重に見えるものをいう。〈にじゅうけん〉とも呼び，二重眼瞼ともいう。上眼瞼溝の位置が下降して上眼瞼の前縁に一致すると，前方からは一重眼瞼に見えるが，これを偽一重瞼あるいは仮性一重瞼という。ヨーロッパ人には二重瞼が多い。モンゴロイド大人種でもタイ人やマレー人には多く(85～95％)，中国人や朝鮮人にはやや少ない。日本人では60～75％程度の出現率である。アイヌでは90％以上である。
