[Editorial Department] In the 16th century, Francis I, who was devoted to the Italian Renaissance, invited painters, sculptors, and architects from Italy to complete the palace. It was expanded and remodeled several times after that, but it fell into ruin during the French Revolution and was restored by Napoleon in the 19th century.
