A law that quantifies the subjective magnitude of a sensation in units of discrimination threshold R. Based on Weber's law, which states that the discrimination threshold ΔS of a stimulus is proportional to the objective magnitude S of the stimulus, GT Fechner derived the basic formula ΔR = K・ΔS / S , and by solving this, he determined that the psychophysical logarithmic law R = C・ log ( S / S ₀ ) (where S ₀ is the stimulus threshold, and K and C are constants) holds true.
