...It is not just about appreciating cut flowers and potted plants, but also includes techniques for making small flower beds and gardens, and more recently includes fresh flowers and Western-style floral decorations. Floriculture has sometimes been interpreted in the narrow sense as flower gardening, and flowers are sometimes called ornamental plants. The number of plants handled as floriculture, including species and varieties, is said to exceed 10,000.
