In Greek mythology, he is the god of sleep. He is the son of the night goddess Nyx and the darkness Erebus, and the twin brother of Death Thanatos. He is depicted as a winged young man who goes around pouring a sleep-inducing liquid from a horn he holds in his hand onto the earth. According to Homer, Helios was given a wife by Hera, one of the Charites, Pasithea, and he also loved the handsome Endymion, allowing him to sleep with his eyes open.
