Hino Sukena
Year of death: May 2, 1338 (May 21)
Year of birth: 1285
A nobleman in the late Kamakura period. His father was Gon Dainagon Hino Toshimitsu, and he was the older brother of Suketomo. In 1296, he was appointed Sahyoe no jo. In 1331, he became an inspector and was highly trusted by Emperor Kogon. In May of the second year of the Genko era, when the city was attacked by Go-Daigo's forces, he accompanied Emperor Kogon and escaped from Kyoto with Hojo Nakatoki and others, but became a monk in Omi Banba (Maibara Town, Shiga Prefecture). In 1336, when Ashikaga Takauji, who had been defeated in the Battle of Kyoto, fled to Kyushu and sought an imperial edict from the retired Emperor Kogon, Sukena followed Takauji's wishes and arranged with Sanboin Kenshun in Tomozuku, Bingo (Fukuyama City) to convey the imperial edict to Takauji.
