Oei-ki

A war chronicle that records the course of the Oei Rebellion. It is also known as the "Record of the Extermination of Ouchi Yoshihiro." It is one volume. There is also a good quality copy titled "Sakai-ki." The author and date of its creation are unknown, but it was probably written not long after the rebellion. It began writing in September 1399 (Oei 6), and covers the exchanges between Yoshihiro, who was staying in Sakai, and the shogunate, military councils and formations on both sides, the battle for Sakai on December 21 and Yoshihiro's death in battle, the surrender of his younger brother Hiromochi, and the scorched earth of Sakai. The narrative is objective, but does not show any criticism of the shogunate. It is included in the "Gunsho Ruiju" (War Section).

応永の乱の経過を記した戦記物。別名を『大内義弘(おおうちよしひろ)退治記』ともいう。1巻。『堺記(さかいき)』と題された良質の写本もある。著者、成立年代とも不詳であるが、乱後それほど経ない作品であろう。1399年（応永6）9月から筆をおこし、堺滞留の義弘と幕府側の応酬、双方の軍議・陣立て、12月21日の堺攻防戦と義弘の討ち死に、弟弘茂(ひろもち)の降参、堺の焦土化などを記す。叙述に客観性はあるが、幕府を批判する姿勢はみられない。『群書類従』（合戦部）所収。
