Sheep - Sheep

Japanese: ヒツジ(羊) - ヒツジ
Sheep - Sheep
It is a member of the Bovidae family of the order Even-toed ungulates. It is said to have been domesticated from the mouflon, which has been found in Corsica and Sardinia since around 6000 BC, the Asiatic mouflon, which has been found in Asia Minor and Afghanistan, and the argali, which has been found in Central Asia. Its body is densely hairy, and most males have horns. The cross section of the base of the horns is almost an inverted triangle. It has no beard. It has a strong digestive ability, can tolerate rough food, and ruminates. It is docile and gregarious. It is raised in dry, cool places. In addition to obtaining wool, its meat is called mutton and lamb (sheep's meat) and is edible. Its milk is high in fat (6-8%) and is a good ingredient for butter and cheese, as well as for drinking. There are many varieties depending on the purpose and place of origin, but they are broadly divided into wool, meat, wool and meat, milk, and fur. [Wool breed] This is the general term used when referring to sheep. They are raised in Australia, the United States and other parts of the world, with the Merino breed being the most well-known. [Meat breeds] They are widely raised in the UK and other countries, with breeds such as the Lincoln, Suffolk and Southdown breeds, and their fur is also used. [Dual-purpose breeds] The Corriedale breed is well-known and is widely raised in New Zealand, the United States and other countries. [Dairy breeds] The Ostfriesian breed, native to Germany, and the Lacoune breed, native to France, are well-known. [Fur breeds] Breeds include the Karakul breed, and the fur of Karakul lambs shortly after birth is known as astrakhan. They are raised in Turkestan, Russia, Namibia and other countries.
