A place name in the Zagros Mountains in western Iran, famous for an ancient Persian rock-cut inscription. Also known as Behistan or Bihistun. The inscription describes the great achievements of Darius I of the Achaemenid Empire in Persian, Elamite, and Babylonian, and includes a relief of his political opponents.
