Colorimeter - Hishokukei (English spelling) colorimeter

The analytical method of quantifying a substance by the color intensity of a solution is called colorimetric analysis, and the photoelectric photometer used for this purpose is called a colorimeter or photoelectric colorimeter. It measures the absorbance at a specific wavelength in combination with a filter or monochromator, and is generally used to analyze solutions that utilize color reactions, such as the coloring of a sample caused by a target substance or the coloring of a sample when a reagent is added to the sample. Standard solutions or standard optical filters specified in standards are used to calibrate the scale.

溶液の色の濃さによって物質を定量する分析方法を比色分析といい、このために用いる光電光度計を比色計または光電比色計とよぶ。フィルターやモノクロメーターと組み合わせて特定の波長における吸光度を測定するもので、対象物質による試料の着色または試料に試薬を加えたときの着色など、一般に呈色反応を利用した溶液の分析に用いられる。目盛り校正には、規格などに規定された標準溶液または標準光学フィルターが用いられる。
