A city in the southern part of the Sayama Hills, bordering Saitama Prefecture and north of Tokyo. It was incorporated as a city in 1970. It borders Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture to the north. Sayama tea is a specialty of the city, and metal machinery manufacturing is also carried out. Since the opening of the Seibu Haijima Line in the late 1950s, the area has seen rapid residential development. Lake Tama is located in the northern part of the city. Area: 13.42 km2 .
