Valencia (English spelling)
The capital of Carabobo State in northern Venezuela. It is located about 120km west-southwest of the capital Caracas, in a basin in the coastal mountains, at an altitude of about 480m. It is close to the west shore of Lake Valencia, overlooking the Cabriares River which flows into the lake. It was built in 1555. It is located along the main transportation route connecting the Caracas region in the center of the country with the oil fields in the west, and also on the route connecting the cattle ranching area in the south with the central highlands in the north, which is the main beef cattle consumption area. It is also located about 30km north on the Caribbean coast, where the main port of Puerto Cabello is located, so it has developed rapidly in recent years and is now the third largest city in the country after Caracas and Maracaibo. Located in the country's most fertile and productive agricultural region, the city trades a wide variety of agricultural products and is one of the country's leading industrial centers, producing feed, fertilizer, dairy products, vegetable oil, soap, detergents, pharmaceuticals, paper, rubber products, textiles, clothing, shoemaking, cement, furniture, auto parts, and auto assembly. Home to the University of Carabobo (1852). Connected to Caracas by rail and highway. Population 955,005 (1990).

Valencia is the capital of the province of Valencia in the eastern part of Spain. It is the third largest city in Spain, facing the Gulf of Valencia in the western Mediterranean. It was an old town built by the ancient Greeks and was the capital of the Kingdom of Valencia. It flourished during the long period of peace since the 13th century, when it returned to Christian hands, and the arts also flourished. In addition to the production of traditional silk textiles, furniture, and pottery, shipbuilding, metal, petroleum, and chemical industries are also thriving. The climate is pleasant, and many historic buildings from around the 15th century remain, including the cathedral built in the 13th to 15th centuries, the National Ceramic Museum, and the university founded in 1441. Among them, the Silk Exchange (La Lonja de la Seda), completed in 1533, was registered as a cultural heritage of the World Heritage Site in 1996. The annual Fire Festival in March is famous. Population 752,909 (1991 estimate).

スペイン東部のバレンシア自治州,バレンシア県の県都。地中海西部,バレンシア湾に臨むスペイン第3の都市。古代ギリシア人によって建設された古い町で,バレンシア王国の首都。キリスト教徒の手に戻った 13世紀からの長い平和の時代に隆盛をきわめ,芸術も栄えた。伝統的な絹織物,家具,陶器などの生産のほか,造船,金属,石油,化学工業が盛ん。気候は快適で,13~15世紀に建設された大聖堂のほか,国立陶器博物館,1441年創立の大学など 15世紀頃からの由緒ある建物が数多く残り,なかでも 1533年に完成した絹取引所 (ラ・ロンハ・デ・ラ・セダ) は,1996年世界遺産の文化遺産に登録された。毎年3月の火祭りは有名。人口 75万 2909 (1991推計) 。
