This is a large-scale museum specializing in crafts that systematically and comprehensively collects and exhibits crafts from ancient times to the present. It is located in the Marsan wing of the Tuileries Palace, adjacent to the Louvre Museum. It was founded in 1877 and moved to its current location in 1905. It has a rich and diverse collection of ceramics, mainly Chinese and Islamic pottery, metalwork, dyed and woven textiles, wood products, furniture, and Gobelin tapestries. In addition to placing emphasis on permanent exhibitions of crafts, which is its mission as a museum specializing in crafts, it also has a unique presence as a venue for presenting experimental contemporary art from Japan and abroad.

古代から現代までの工芸品を，系統的網羅的に収集展示した大規模な工芸専門の美術館。ルーブル美術館に隣接するチュイルリー宮殿のマルサン棟内にある。 1877年に設立され，1905年に現在の場所に移転した。中国やイスラムの陶器を中心とする陶磁器，金工，染織，木製品，家具，ゴブラン織など多岐にわたる豊富なコレクションがある。また，工芸専門館としての使命である工芸の常設展示に重点をおくだけでなく，内外の実験的現代美術の発表の場としても異色の存在である。
