Bahmani Dynasty - Bahmani Dynasty
A Muslim dynasty (1347-1527) that ruled over the entire Deccan region of India. Towards the end of the reign of Muhammad bin Tughluq, the second king of the Tughluq dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate, the local governors stationed in the Deccan rebelled, and in 1347 the Tughluq dynasty became independent and founded the state. Its capital was Gulbarga, later Bidar. During the reign of the ninth king, Ahmad Shah I (reigned 1422-35), the current city of Ahmadnagar was built and made the capital there. From the beginning of the state, two major factions were formed among the nobles and powerful officials close to the king, depending on their place of origin (Western Asia and India), and the political situation was unstable due to a struggle for real power in the court. However, the political situation was temporarily stabilized by the efforts of Mahmud Gawan, who was appointed as prime minister by the 13th king, Muhammad Shah III (reigned 63-82). However, after Gawan was executed on false charges, the royal family again fell into disarray, and from the end of the 15th century the governors of each region became independent forces, eventually leading to the fall of the dynasty and the division of the kingdom into five kingdoms: Berar, Bijapur, Ahmadnagar, Golconda and Bidar.
