Babak Rebellion - Babak no Ran

A rebellion (816-837) led by Bābak (?-838), a leader of the Khorramites in Azerbaijan. Bābak was from Mada'in (Ctesiphon), and became a disciple of Jawizan, the leader of the Khorramites in Azerbaijan. After his master's death, he succeeded him and in 816 launched a rebellion in the mountains of Azerbaijan. His rebellion soon came to dominate a vast area stretching from Khorasan in the east to Armenia in the west and Jibar in the south, threatening cities and trade routes.

アゼルバイジャンのホッラム教徒の指導者バーバクBābak(？‐838)が起こした反乱(816‐837)。バーバクはマダーイン(クテシフォン)の人で，アゼルバイジャンのホッラム教の指導者ジャーウィーザーンの弟子となり，師の没後その跡を継ぎ，816年，アゼルバイジャンの山中に拠って反乱を起こした。それはたちまち東はホラーサーン，西はアルメニア，南はジバールに至る広大な地域を支配し，都市と通商路を脅かした。
