A weeding tool for rice paddies. It is made of a 10-15cm x 20-30cm board with many 5cm nails hammered into it and a handle attached to it, and the board is moved back and forth between the rows of rice using the handle. The nails scratch the soil to remove weeds. Some tools had knife-like objects planted in place of nails, and there were various shapes depending on the region. The name does not refer to the fact that it could weed 8 tan (about 80 ares) a day, but rather to the fact that it was extremely efficient compared to the previous work using a "ganzume (wild goose claw)."
