German King of the Salier Dynasty (reigned 1028-1056, sole ruler from 1039), Holy Roman Emperor (reigned 1046-1056). Known as the Black King. Son of Conrad II. He expanded royal power through planned management of royal lands and the appointment of imperial family members, and was sympathetic to the monastic reform movement in Cluny. He invaded Italy twice, and in 1046 abolished three rival popes and established the first German pope, Clement II. He ushered in the golden age of medieval Germany.

ザリエル朝ドイツ国王（在位1028年―1056年，単独統治は1039年より），神聖ローマ皇帝（在位1046年―1056年）。黒王と称される。コンラート２世の子。計画的な王領地経営と帝国家人の登用で王権の伸張を図り，クリュニーの修道院改革運動に共鳴した。２度イタリアに遠征し，1046年対立する３教皇を廃止して初のドイツ人教皇クレメンス２世を擁立。中世ドイツの最盛期を現出。
