Born January 19, 1904 in Hebei,
[Died] September 18, 1982. Beijing Chinese paleontologist, anthropologist, and archaeologist. Graduated from Peking University. Professor at the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Director of the Beijing Museum of Natural History. Participated in the Zhoukoudian excavation, which began in 1928, and discovered the fossil cranial remains of Sinanthropus. Also made contributions to the study of Chinese Pleistocene humans such as the Ziyang man. His main works include "Summary of the History of the Early Chinese," "Research on the Early History of China," and "Ziyang Man" (1957), and "Report on the Excavation of the Paleolithic Site of Dingcun, Xiangfen County, Shanxi" (58).
