This manor was located in the northwest of Tamana County, Higo Province, and was part of the land of Miroku-ji Temple in Buzen Usa. It is locally called "Nobara." It is believed to have occupied most of what is now Arao City, Kumamoto Prefecture, and Nagasu Town. The name of the manor appears in the entry for March 18, 1114, in the Chu-u-ki. The inspector of Iwashimizu Hachiman-gu Temple also served as the inspector of Miroku-ji Temple, and managed the manor and other land in the land of Miroku-ji. During the Kamakura period, the number of fields was said to be over 800 cho. Until the Battle of Hoji in 1247, Mori Zenmon (Susumu), son of Oe Hiromoto, was the land steward, but he was killed in the battle and Shodai Shigetoshi, a vassal of Musashi Province, was appointed as the land steward. In 1262, the lower land division was carried out, and Togo became the lord and Saigo became the land steward. After the Bun'ei Invasion, Shigetoshi's sons went down to the area and divided the land into villages. During the Nanboku-cho period, the Oshiro clan almost always sided with the Northern Court, and by the end of the period, they had control over the entire manor. Nohara Hachiman Shrine (present-day Arao City) was enshrined as the guardian deity of the manor. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
