An old town in Fugeshi County, northeastern part of the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture. Facing Toyama Bay, Ushitsu in the center is a good natural port and a distribution center for goods from Oku-Noto. A typical farming and fishing town. The coastal area is part of the Noto Peninsula Quasi-National Park. In July 2003, Noto Airport opened in the area straddling Wajima City and Anamizu Town. In March 2005, it merged with Yanagida Village in Fugeshi County and Uchiura Town in Suzu County to become a town, Noto Town. 115.46 km2 . Population 11,790 (2003). 石川県能登半島の北東部,鳳至(ふげし)郡の旧町。富山湾に面し,中心の宇出津(うしつ)は天然の良港で,奥能登の物資の集散地。典型的な農漁業の町。沿岸部は能登半島国定公園に属する。2003年7月,輪島市と穴水町にまたがる地域に能登空港が開港。2005年3月鳳至郡柳田村,珠洲郡内浦町と合併し町制,能登町となる。115.46km2。1万1790人(2003)。
