Farmer's lung

Japanese: 農夫肺 - のうふはい（英語表記）Farmer's lung

Also known as farmer's lung disease, this is a type of hypersensitivity pneumonitis that is seen in farmers who handle moldy dried grass (such as pasture grass). Most of the mold that grows on dried grass is thermophilic actinomycetes, and it is caused by inhaling the spores. There are acute and chronic types. In the acute type, symptoms appear several hours after inhalation when a person who has already been sensitized to thermophilic actinomycetes inhales the bacteria again, and symptoms include chills, fever, dry cough, shortness of breath, loss of appetite, general fatigue, and a feeling of oppression in the chest.

農夫肺症ともいう。過敏性肺臓炎の一種で，カビの生えた枯草(牧草など)を取り扱う農夫にみられる病気。枯草に繁殖するカビはほとんどが好熱性放線菌であり，この胞子を吸入することによって起こる。急性型と慢性型がある。急性型はすでに好熱性放線菌に感作されているものが，再び菌を吸入することにより，吸入後数時間で症状が出現するもので，悪寒，発熱，空咳，息ぎれ，食欲不振，全身倦怠感，胸部重圧感などの症状がみられる。
