A city in the west of Cameroon, West Africa. With a population of 112,000 (1991), it is the country's third largest. It is the terminus of the railway from Douala, Cameroon's number one trading port, and has an airport, making it a key transportation hub with roads extending to various locations. Commercial activity is thriving, and the city is a distribution center for oil palm, bananas, coffee, and other products produced in the surrounding area.
