A special corporation established in 1958 under the Japan Labor Association Act with full government funding. It conducts surveys, research, and documentation on labor issues, as well as publishing, broadcasting, and offering courses and providing assistance for worker education activities. It was reorganized in 1990 and renamed the Japan Institute for Labor Policy and Training. In 2003, it was reorganized and renamed the Japan Institute for Labor Policy and Training, an independent administrative institution.
