A long-established company in the fisheries industry. In 1919, Tamura Kisen Fisheries merged with Kyodo Fisheries, and in 1934, it joined the Nissan Conzern, absorbing many other fishing companies. During World War II, it became a controlling company, but after the war, it separated from Nippon Refrigeration in 1945. In 1946, it resumed whaling in the Southern Ocean, and in 1947, it resumed fishing in the North Pacific. It produces mainly surimi, frozen fish, frozen foods, oils and fats, and meals, and aims to become a comprehensive food company under the Nissui brand. While expanding into pharmaceuticals, it has withdrawn from shipbuilding. In recent years, it has acquired New Zealand's largest fisheries company and a North American brand of frozen fisheries for home use, and is working to build a global SCM.
