Nitta Manor - Nitta no Sho

Japanese:
Nitta Manor - Nitta no Sho

This manor was located in Kozuke Province (Gunma Prefecture) and was located on the Omama alluvial fan. Its territory covered almost the entire ancient Nitta County (present-day parts of Ota City, Isesaki City, and Midori City). In 1108 (Tennin 1), Minamoto no Yoshishige developed the southwestern part of Nitta County, which had been devastated by the eruption of Mount Asama. In 1157 (Hogen 2), he donated this to Kongoshin-in Temple, which was built by the retired Emperor Toba, and Nitta Manor was established with Kongoshin-in Temple as the main family, Fujiwara Tadamasa (Kazan-in family) as the lord, and Yoshishige as the subordinate. Later, in 1170 (Kao 2), the territory was expanded to cover the entire Nitta County. After that, it became the foundation of the Nitta clan, descendants of Yoshishige, and produced Nitta Yoshisada during the Nanboku-cho period. The Nitta Manor inventory of 1170 lists 302 cho of paddy fields, 96 cho of farmland, and 248 u of household land. After Nitta Yoshisada's demise, his family, the Nitta Iwamatsu clan, inherited the estate.
