Nissho Pass - Nissho Pass

A pass on the border between the Hidaka district of Hidaka Town under the jurisdiction of the Hidaka Subprefectural Bureau and Shimizu Town under the jurisdiction of the Tokachi General Subprefectural Bureau in central and southern Hokkaido. The pass is 1,023 meters above sea level. The Nissho Road (National Route 274) crosses this pass in the Hidaka Mountains through a tunnel. With the opening of the Nissho Road in 1965, the distance between Sapporo and Obihiro was shortened by about 30 kilometers compared to the route via Karikachi Pass, and it became the shortest route connecting central and eastern Hokkaido.

北海道中南部、日高振興局管内の日高町日高地区と十勝(とかち)総合振興局管内の清水町(しみずちょう)との境界にある峠。標高1023メートル。日勝道路（国道274号）が日高山脈のこの峠をトンネルで横断する。1965年（昭和40）の日勝道路の開通によって、札幌―帯広(おびひろ)間は狩勝峠(かりかちとうげ)経由よりも約30キロメートル短縮され、道央、道東連絡の最短路となった。
