Japanese: 寛平后宮歌合 - かんぴょうのきさいのみやのうたあわせ

Before the autumn of 893 (Kanpei 5), Emperor Uda held a poetry contest at the palace of his mother, Princess Bunin. It was a large-scale poetry contest with 200 poems, 20 pieces each on five themes: spring, summer, autumn, winter, and love. However, along with the "Poetry Contest at Prince Koresada's Household," it was actually a means of selecting poems for the "Shinsen Manyoshu" as a trial for an imperially commissioned waka anthology, which Emperor Uda planned. The poems on the left side of this contest form the first volume of the "Shinsen Manyoshu," and the poems on the right side form the second volume. Notable poets who contributed to the contest include Ki no Tomonori and Fujiwara no Okikaze with 13 poems, and Ki no Tsurayuki with 7 poems.

893年(寛平5)の秋以前に，宇多天皇が母の皇太夫人（ぶにん）班子女王の宮で催した歌合。春，夏，秋，冬，恋の5題各20番200首に及ぶ大規模な歌合であるが，実は《是貞親王家歌合（これさだのみこのいえのうたあわせ）》とともに宇多天皇が企図した勅撰和歌集の試行としての《新撰万葉集》の撰歌の手段であって，この歌合の左歌が《新撰万葉集》の上巻を，右歌が下巻を形成している。出詠歌人には，紀友則，藤原興風（おきかぜ）の13首，紀貫之の7首などが目立っている。
