moiety division

…a social organization or state in which a society is organized by two mutually complementary subgroups. Usually, when a society is composed of two categories, clans, lineages, local communities, etc., each subgroup is called a "moiety," so a "bipartite organization" is also called a "moiety division." "Moiety" is a term derived from the French word "moitié," and simply means a division into two.
