Mr. Wada

Japanese:
Mr. Wada
A medieval samurai of Izumi. According to the Wada Family Tree, he was a descendant of the Minister of the Right, Onakatomi Kiyomaro, and is thought to have developed the Wada district of Otori County, Izumi Province, around the end of the 11th century, and began to call himself the Wada clan. In the Kamakura period, he became a vassal, and in the early 13th century, he donated his estate to Kongo-ji Temple, and Wada Manor was established. The Wada clan inherited the manor official position, but also donated the same manor to Kasuga Shrine to protect the estate, and served the Sekkanke family. The positions of the Wada clan are rare, as they show the full extent of the estates of the samurai of the Kinai region, and show a variety of forms, including the manor official position of Wada Manor, the position of head priest, the position of Tenno Gokata-no-chief, the position of Kasuga-no-chief, various miscellaneous tax-exempt fields, named fields, ponds, forests, and shrines and temples.

Wadauji [Mr. Wada]

A medieval warrior from Izumi. A member of the Kusunoki clan, he took the surname Tachibana. In the Taiheiki, it is written that the Wada clan led battles alongside the Kusunoki clan. However, there are many unclear points about the Kusunoki clan's genealogy, and it is also unclear what kind of genealogy the Wada clan belongs to. Wada Village was located in Kamigamigo, Otori County, Izumi Province (present-day Sakai City), and since what is said to be the grave of the Wada clan is said to be located there, it is assumed that the Wada clan made this village their base. According to legend, it began when the Kusunoki clan from Kawachi Province moved to Izumi Province during the Kamakura period and settled in Wada Village.
