Date of birth and death unknown. Military commander in the mid-Heian period. Son of Taira Kunika. At the time Taira Masakado raised his army, he was a Kyoto official (Sama no Jo) (Shomonki), but he held a wide variety of government positions throughout his life. After his father Kunika died, he was forced to fight against Masakado as the head of the Taira clan, but he took a passive stance. However, in 940 (Tenkei 3), he defeated Masakado together with Fujiwara Hidesato, the governor of Shimotsuke Province, and was awarded the rank of Umanosuke, Junior Fifth Rank, for his achievements. He is also said to have served as Chinjufu Shogun and Mutsu no Kami. Sadamori's career is also found in the Konjaku Monogatari, and the picture is by no means limited to the framework of the Shomonki. Among his sons, Koremasa's lineage became the Hojo clan, and Korehira's lineage became the Ise Heishi clan, so Sadamori's wide-ranging actions can be reevaluated. Furthermore, the legend that his nephew Koremoto succeeded him as the head of the Hitachi Heishi clan is not unrelated to Sadamori's career.
