1863‐1918 Historian of modern Iran. After receiving a traditional ulama education in his hometown of Kerman, he went to Tehran, where he published the weekly newspaper Nowruz in 1902-03, and in February 1905 formed a secret society and participated in the Iranian Constitutional Revolution. His main work, The History of the Awakening of the Iranians (1910), describes the process of the constitutional revolution in the form of a diary, and is a first-class historical source.
