The first volume examines the deeds of Prince Otomo (Emperor Kobun), the first son of Emperor Tenchi, and the Jinshin War, while the second volume examines that the place where Prince Otomo committed suicide was in front of Mount Nagato in Shiga County, and that Onjo-ji Temple (Mii-dera Temple) located there was founded based on a will given by Prince Otomo to his son, Prince Yota. The appendices include "Notes on the Jinshin Chronicle," "Discussion on Eras," "The Story of Prince Kusakabe and Prince Karu's Reign as Emperor Jito," and "Considerations on the Establishment of Prince Tenchi as Crown Prince and the Names of His Elder Brothers."
