A mammal of the family Baleen whale (illustration). In the family Baleen whale, all seven cervical vertebrae are free. This large species lives in oceans around the world and can reach a body length of 26-27m. Individuals in the Northern Hemisphere are 2-3m smaller. Females are also about 1m larger than males. It is also called "noso". Its baleen plates are up to 70cm long, with 260-480 on each side, the front quarter of the right side being milky white, and the rest blue-black (the bristles are the same color). Its head is flat and V-shaped when viewed from above, with a pointed front. Its dorsal fin is large.
