A city in southern Osaka Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1950. The city center is located in the Ishikawa River Valley Plain. It was established as a temple town of the Ikko sect Koshoji temple. Since the mid-Edo period, it has developed as a key transportation hub and a distribution center for local products, and the Kintetsu Nagano Line was opened in 1898. Bamboo blinds and glass balls are local specialties. In addition to mandarin oranges in the hills, forced cultivation of beans, eggplants, and cucumbers is popular. It is home to Takiya Fudoson Myoo-ji Temple, the PL Kyodan headquarters, and Kongo Danchi, a large housing complex in the Kongo area. The Nankai Electric Railway runs through the city. 39.72 km2 .
