Born: 1891. Bashkurdistan
[Died] July 1970. Turkish historian. Graduated from Kazan University in 1912 and Vienna University in 1935. After the Russian Revolution, he promoted the Turkish national independence movement within the Soviet Union and played an active role as head of the Bashkir government (1917-20) and head of the Turkestan National Committee (1920-23), but eventually went into exile and moved to the Republic of Turkey. Professor at Istanbul University from 1925 to 1970. His main works include UmumîTürk Tarihine Giris (46), Tarihte Usul (50), and Hâtıralar (69).
