Gyokudai Shin'ei

An anthology of love poems from the Han and Wei dynasties to the Liang dynasty. 10 volumes. Compiled by Xu Ling. It is said that Xu Ling had compiled this when Xiao Gang, the Jianwen Emperor of the Liang dynasty (reigned 549-551), was the prince. While the contemporary Wen Xuan attempted to set standards for prose poetry across a range of genres, this anthology is limited to love poems. The light and elegant new style of poetry that became popular in the literary salons of the Jianwen Emperor was called the "Gong Style," and its symbolic expression of feminine beauty with intricate techniques strongly reflects the aesthetic sense of the aristocratic society of the time. The compilation of the Yutai Xinyong can be said to have extended their tastes from the past to the present.

中国、漢魏(かんぎ)から梁(りょう)に至る恋愛詩歌のアンソロジー。10巻。徐陵(じょりょう)撰(せん)。梁の簡文帝蕭綱(しょうこう)（在位549～551）が太子であったとき、徐陵に編集させたという。同時代の『文選(もんぜん)』が各ジャンルにわたり文章詩賦の標準を示そうとしたのに対し、範囲を恋愛詩歌に限定している。簡文帝の文学サロンから流行した軽艶(けいえん)な新詩風は、「宮体」とよばれ、精緻(せいち)な技巧を配した女性美の象徴的表現は、当時の貴族社会の美意識を色濃く反映している。『玉台新詠』の編集は、彼らの好尚を過去から現代へと及ぼしたものといえる。
