Japanese: 動態統計 - どうたいとうけい（英語表記）dynamic statistics

Statistics created with the aim of capturing the temporal fluctuations of a certain variable, for example, weekly, monthly, or quarterly fluctuations. In contrast, statistics that examine the state of a variable on a certain date, month, or year are called static statistics. Representative vital statistics in Japan include the Production Statistics Survey conducted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Vital Statistics Survey conducted by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the Monthly Labor Survey, the Farm Economic Survey conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and the Household Survey conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. Note that vital statistics on economic variables include the effects of seasonal fluctuations, so when using vital statistics, it is necessary to remove the seasonal fluctuations.

ある変量の時間的変動，たとえば週ごと，月々，四半期ごとの変動をとらえることを目的に作成される統計をいう。これに対して何年何月何日の変量の状態を調べる統計を静態統計と呼ぶ。日本における動態統計の代表的なものは，経済産業省などで行なっている生産動態統計調査，厚生労働省の人口動態統計調査，毎月勤労統計調査，農林水産省の農家経済調査，総務省の家計調査などがある。なお経済変量に関する動態統計には季節変動の影響が含まれているので，動態統計を利用するときには，季節変動を除去して利用する必要がある。
