Japanese: 展色剤 - てんしょくざい

Also called a vehicle. A paint component that is a material that spreads pigments and other coloring agents. For example, boiled oil is used in oil-based paints, aqueous solutions containing binders in water-based paints, and varnish in enamels. Components other than pigments in printing inks are also called vehicles, such as varnish and mineral oil.

ビヒクルとも。塗料構成要素で，顔料などの色剤を展(の)べる材料。たとえば油性塗料ではボイル油など，水性塗料では結合剤を含めた水溶液，エナメルではワニスなど。印刷インキの顔料以外の成分も展色剤といい，ワニスや鉱油などが使用される。
