Armature

In rotating electrical machines, this is the part that converts between electrical energy and kinetic energy through interaction with the magnetic field generated by the field magnet. It is also called the armature. It uses electromagnets, and its windings are called the armature windings. The armature windings are placed in slots (grooves) in a laminated core made by stacking thin electrical steel plates. This core is called the armature core.

In DC machines, the rotor functions as the armature. Synchronous machines are divided into rotating armature type and rotating field type.

When magnetic flux is generated by the armature current, it is combined with the magnetic flux generated by the field magnetic flux, causing a bias in the distribution of magnetic flux. This is called armature reaction.

回転電気機械において、界磁により発生する磁界との相互作用によって電気エネルギーと運動エネルギーのエネルギー変換をする部分。アーマチュアともいう。電磁石を使用しており、その巻線を電機子巻線という。また、電機子巻線は、薄い電気鉄板を積み重ねてつくった積層鉄心にスロット（溝）を設け、その中に入れてある。この鉄心を電機子鉄心という。

　直流機では回転子が電機子の機能をもつ。同期機では回転電機子形と回転界磁形がある。

　電機子電流による磁束が生じると界磁磁束による磁束と合成されるので磁束の分布に偏りが生ずる。これを電機子反作用という。
