A rectangular gold coin from the Edo period. It is equal to one-fourth of one ryo of koban. It was first minted around 1601 (6th year of the Keicho era). After the Keicho Ichibu Kin, reminted Ichibu Kin were issued in the Genroku, Hoei, Shotoku, Genbun, Bunsei, Tenpo, Ansei, and Man'en periods. However, with the exception of the Keicho Ichibu Kin and Shotoku Ichibu Kin, they were often poorly minted and of poor quality. As they were very convenient for trading, they were widely circulated as "small grains" and, along with koban, were the main form of gold currency in the Edo period. There were also many Ichibu Kin coins among the Koshu gold coins minted by the Takeda clan of Kai during the Tenbun period (1532-1555). →Ichishu Gold→Related topics Kinza | Keicho Gold and Silver | Goto Shozaburo | Tenpo Gold and Silver | Bunsei Gold and Silver | Western Silver (Coin) Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
