Around 1575-? A Spanish Franciscan priest. He came to Japan in 1612 (Keicho 17) and studied Japanese in Kyoto. In 1614, he was forcibly deported to Nagasaki due to the ban on Christianity, but he escaped and returned to Kyoto, then headed to Edo (present-day Tokyo). In 1615 (Genwa 1), he was arrested in Edo and imprisoned, but was released when Diego de Santa Catalina, an envoy of Philip III, visited Japan in 1618 and was exiled to Mexico. However, he returned to Japan again via Manila. In 1620, he headed to Edo, where he stayed for seven months, before returning to Nagasaki.
