Steel drum

... refers to a band made up of several types of steel drums and percussion instruments. A steel drum is a musical instrument made by striking a drum can with a ridged top, each of which produces a different pitch. There are high and low pitch versions. It was invented by black people in Trinidad during World War II using drums discarded by the U.S. Air Force.
